Thomas Wins Primary, Moves on to Dossett Rematch for State Seat


Republican Walker Thomas carried two of the three counties in the newly redrawn 8th congressional district to defeat Caldwell County Judge-executive Larry Curling for the chance to appear in the November general election.
Thomas totaled 2,120 votes to 1,562 for Curling.
Thomas won handily in Christian County 1,178 to Curling’s 220. Trigg County also went Thomas’ way 633 to 142.
Curling, a retired teacher who served one term on Caldwell Fiscal Court and one term as judge-executive carried his home county 1,220 to 309.
Thomas spoke highly of Curling and complimented him on running a positive campaign.

The 8th District was redrawn in the 2022 General Assembly and now includes all of Caldwell County, 18 of Christian County’s 41 precincts, and seven of Trigg County’s 15 precincts.
Thomas will meet Democrat challenger Pam Dossett in the November general election in a rematch of the 2018 election that Thomas won by 1,280 votes.
