Salem Man Charged With Assaulting His Mother

A Livingston County man was arrested Monday after he allegedly assaulted and strangled his mother.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies arrested 56-year old Riley Rogers of Salem on one count of fourth-degree assault and one count of strangulation.
According to the report, deputies responded to a 911 call for assistance in the 700 block of Wilkes Lane in Salem. When they arrived, deputies said they found Rogers had become angry and began destroying property in the residence that he shares with his 77-year old mother. Deputies said when his mother began questioning Rogers as to why he was destroying property in their home, he began to assault her. Rogers reportedly struck his mother in the face and then choked her, causing multiple injuries. The victim was able to escape and get assistance from a next-door neighbor.
Rogers was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
