Providence Father, Juvenile Son Charged With Drug Possession And Wanton Endangerment

A Providence father and his juvenile son are facing drug possession and wanton endangerment charges after officers executed a search warrant Monday night.
Providence Police report Officer Jay Riley Edwards attempted to serve the warrant at 311 Barrett Street around 11:00 p.m. as the result of an investigation. After officers knocked on the door and announced their presence, a 17-year old juvenile reportedly came to the door with a semi-automatic pistol in his hand. When officers attempted to get control of the situation, police said the juvenile threw the gun on the floor and tried to flee into the house but was overpowered by officers and detained.
Police indicate the juvenile’s father, 54-year old Earl Ray Pointer, Jr. was also inside the home as well as other children when officers conducted a search and seized marijuana and a variety of drug paraphernalia. Police said an investigation revealed that Pointer was purchasing, providing and using marijuana with his son.
The juvenile was lodged in the McCracken County Juvenile Facility on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, possession of a handgun by a minor, resisting arrest, and first-degree wanton endangerment.
Pointer was taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, unlawful transaction with a minor, and first-degree wanton endangerment. He was lodged in the Webster County Jail.
According to Providence Police, Social Services were notified and responded to the scene to conduct an investigation, and the remaining juveniles were released to a relative.
Officer Edwards was assisted on the scene by Providence Police Chief Todd Jones, Sergeant Carl Scheer, and Officer Eric Elder.
