Princeton Man Charged With Stealing Vehicle

Joshua Fowler/Caldwell County Jail

A Princeton man was arrested last week for allegedly stealing a vehicle from a church parking lot.
Princeton Assistant Police Chief Shane Allison reports officers responded to the report of a male who had stolen a vehicle from the parking lot of First Baptist Church around 8:00 Thursday morning. Officers reportedly spoke with the owner of the vehicle and he told officers that a male had got into his car and drove it away. Police say the owner of the vehicle followed the suspect down North Jefferson Street to Interstate 69 but lost the suspect when he got on the interstate. Police searched the area and notified surrounding law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the vehicle but officers were unable to locate it.
On Friday night around 8:20, Assistant Chief Allison says officers accompanied EMS on a medical call which was the same suspect in the vehicle theft, 39-year old Joshua I. Fowler. Officers reportedly recovered the vehicle and returned it to the rightful owner after an investigation revealed Fowler took the car and then told officers where it could be located.
Fowler was taken into custody and charged with theft by unlawful taking over $1,000 less than $10,000. He was lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.
