Changes To Marion Water Distribution, Bulk Water Hauling Route

Marion officials announced a change late Tuesday to the bottled water distribution schedule for residents along with a change to the bulk water haul loading point.
Crittenden County Emergency Management Director Jason Hurley said the Kentucky National Guard will now haul water coming from the Tradewater River landing just off U.S. 60 at the Tradewater River Bridge at the Crittenden-Union County Line, which is about a mile south/west of the KY 109 intersection at Sullivan. He said the pump, loading rack, and other equipment were moved to the new site on Tuesday with delivery expected to begin at the Old City Lake Wednesday morning.
Hurley indicates the new bulk water loading site will provide improved safety for National Guard personnel and the public by allowing the large tankers to travel U.S. 60 to and from Old City Lake. He noted motorists who normally travel U.S. 60 between Marion and the Sullivan community should be alert for tankers traveling this route and use appropriate caution.
Meanwhile, Marion officials said the water distribution schedule had been changed. Those with the last name A-M can pick up bottled water Thursday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 6 p.m., and those with the last name N-Z can pick up bottled water on Friday during the same time frame. The bottle water distribution is at the Old National Guard Armory located at 131 Rochester Avenue. Officials are asking for this water to be used for drinking and cooking purposes.
