Providence Woman Charged With Driving While On Meth

Police say a Providence woman who was stopped for driving on a suspended license Friday afternoon is facing additional charges after meth was found inside her vehicle.
According to Providence Chief Todd Jones, he stopped the vehicle occupied by the driver, 56-year old Lisa Brown and an 8-year old passenger around 2 p.m. on Nisbit Street after a check of the license plate revealed the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license. During the stop, he says Brown advised him she had alcohol in the back of her vehicle and that it was a violation of the conditions of her release on a pending meth charge.
Chief Jones says in the passenger floorboard at the feet of the 8-year old he found Brown’s purse that contained a rubber container with a white crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Brown was taken into custody and lodged in the Webster County Jail on charges of operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia, and violations of conditions of release.
Chief Jones indicates Social Services were notified and the juvenile was released to a relative.
