The Princeton Optimist Club announced the grand marshals for the annual Black Patch Heritage Festival Parade coming up in September.
Club President George Kilgore made the announcement Wednesday morning at the Christian Life Center at First Baptist Church. He said the Optimist Club has selected local radio station owner Beth Mann and the WPKY staff as the parade’s grand marshals. He told a couple of stories about Mann purchasing the Princeton radio station in 2018 and helping with the Black Patch Festival that year.
He noted the radio station also has been involved in other community efforts this past year as well as the annual Princeton Optimist Club Radio Auction.
click to download audioHe said during discussions with Mann, they came up with some new ideas, a new theme, and a new location to hold the annual Optimist Club Radio Auction which raised three times more than in previous years that will help the youth in our community.

Following the announcement, Kilgore asked Mann to make some comments. She expressed her gratitude to the Optimist Club for this honor and praised her staff at WPKY who puts the community first.

The Black Patch Heritage Festival will be Friday and Saturday, September 9th-10th. The parade will kick off the festival at 5:00 that Friday afternoon.
