A Madisonville man has been charged with reckless homicide in connection to the death of a 4-month old baby.
Madisonville Police report officers responded to the Elk Creek Trailer Park shortly before 12:30 on the afternoon of April 7 in response to a baby not breathing. The child was transported by ambulance to Baptist Health Emergency Room and was later pronounced deceased by the Hopkins County Coroner’s Office.
During an investigation, police reportedly found the mother’s live-in boyfriend, 22-year old Brandon Morse, was sleeping in the bed with the child at the time of the incident. Police said after giving multiple conflicting stories, Morse admitted that he had taken a sleeping aid and when he woke up he realized the child was under him not breathing.
According to Madisonville Police, Morse was indicted by a Hopkins County grand jury Tuesday on a charge of reckless homicide. Madisonville Police say Morse was taken into custody and lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
