Dawson Springs Student To Participate In HCC Work-And-Learn Program

Hopkinsville Community College will be recognizing 13 new participants, including a Dawson Springs student, during a signing ceremony next week for incoming HOPFAME students at Hopkinsville Community College (HCC).
Marketing and Communications Director Rena Young says HOPFAME is an Industrial Maintenance Technology/Advanced Manufacturing Technician work-and-learn program that gives participants the opportunity to earn a college degree in five semesters while gaining paid real-world work experience with a sponsoring employer.
Young says HOPFAME is made possible through a partnership between regional manufacturers and HCC to implement apprentice-style training to create a pipeline of highly-skilled workers.
Clay Zentz of Dawson Springs will be signing with Plymouth Engineered Shapes located in Hopkinsville. HOPFAME also includes seven students from Hopkinsville, four from Elkton, and one student each from Cadiz and Oak Grove. One of the Hopkinsville students, Chase Dawson who is a second-year HOPFAME student, will be signing with Treehouse Foods in Princeton.
HCC’s Workforce Solutions Division will host the signing ceremony Wednesday morning, August 10, at 9:00 to recognize the incoming HOPFAME students and the 10 company partners who will provide on-the-job training.
