Matt Fraliex — Coming Home

Former Caldwell County basketball star Matt Fraliex is coming home to teach and coach at his alma mater this year.
He will be teaching 4th grade and serving as the JV and assistant boys basketball coach at the high school. He returns home after spending 6 years teaching in Tennessee, a year in Russellville and the past two years at Todd County.
Fraliex graduated from Caldwell County in 2007 breaking various school records including all-time leading scorer with 2,941 points, highest single season average with 32 per game, most consecutive games scoring 20 plus points in 40 games and held the single-game high points scored until this past year.
After graduation, he played college basketball at Murray State for 2 seasons and then on to Mid Continent for 2 years until graduation.
Fraliex decided on his future career as an elementary school teacher while he was a student in Caldwell County and attributed that decision to the teachers at his local school.

He said watching the clock and scoreboard helped him to learn his numbers as a child and remembers counting backward the numbers on the clock as he watched family members play on the court.
