Dawson Springs Home Destroyed In Friday Fire

A home, vehicle and golf cart were destroyed in a fire in Caldwell County Friday evening. Firefighters were dispatched to 358 Island Cove Lane in Dawson Springs shortly after 5:15 p.m.
Caldwell County Assistant Fire Chief Tim Cook tells the News Edge the homeowner was mowing her yard and went inside her home that was undergoing construction. Once inside, he says she smelled smoke and when she went back outside she saw flames in the attic area. According to Cook, he also called for firefighters from Dawson Springs to respond to the home because they were closer but upon arrival, the home was fully engulfed in flames. Cook says the 2,500 square foot house, a car, a golf cart and a scissor lift the contractor was renting were all destroyed in the fire.
Assistant Chief Cook indicates ten Princeton firefighters and three trucks responded to the scene along with eight firefighters and two trucks from Dawson Springs. He says firefighters remained on the scene of the fire for approximately 4.5 hours.
According to Cook, there were no injuries reported.
