Hopkins County Vehicle Pursuit Ends In Suicide


A police pursuit that began in Webster County ended in Hopkins County after law enforcement reported the driver committed suicide.
Shortly after 4:30 Sunday afternoon, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a Webster County Sheriff’s deputy was pursuing a SUV after receiving a reckless driving complaint. The vehicle pursuit was southbound on Nebo Road/US 41a and had crossed the county line into Hopkins County.
According to a release, Hopkins County deputies made contact with the vehicle in the 4400 block of Nebo Road where it had come to a complete stop in the middle of the roadway. Authorities say Hopkins County deputies were made aware shots had been fired prior to their arrival, and a short time later Madisonville Police and Kentucky State Police arrived on the scene. As law enforcement approached the suspect vehicle it was discovered the driver identified as Brian Allen Hood had suffered a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased by the Hopkins County Coroner.
