Caldwell Elementary Students Win Governor’s Cup


The Caldwell County Elementary School Academic Team recently won the 6th District Governor’s Cup competition.
The team consists of 9 members and they all qualified to advance to the Regional Competition to be held March 1st in Hopkins County. McKenzie Fraliex is in her 2nd year serving as Coach for the team.

click to download audioShe says the quick recall team was 3-0 in the tournament with wins over Dawson Springs and West Hopkins in the preliminary rounds and defeated Dawson Springs in the final match to earn first-place honors.

click to download audioEach member of the team can compete in up to 3 different contests. The team is made up of 4th and 5th-grade students.

According to Fraliex, students earned 16 medals in the six individual events — sweeping first, second, and third places in four of those six. She says the following students advanced to the Region 2 Governor’s Cup round in March:
