The Princeton City Council met in regular session Monday night.
During department reports, Fire Chief Brent Francis reminded everyone that a burn ban goes into effect on October 1st.
Public Works Department Supervisor David Sullenger provided an update on mosquito spraying in the city limits.
Sullenger added they are almost out of spray and gave a suggestion if you continue to have mosquito issues.

In old business, the council approved the audit that was presented at the last meeting.
New business items included presenting bids that were received on a surplus 2005 Ford Excursion. There were 19 bids received ranging from $1,200 to $9,000. Mayor Brock Thomas also informed the council he had been asked by Caldwell County Judge-Executive Kota Young if the City would consider donating the vehicle to the local animal shelter.
After discussion with council members, Jim Joiner made a motion, seconded by Carl Copeland to accept the high bid of $9,000 from Eric Jackson. Council members did express an interest in discussing making some kind of transfer of a vehicle to the animal shelter in the future.
Mayor Thomas also shared with the council bids for trash services for the upcoming year. Three bids were submitted from Waste Path, GFL, and Impact. The bids will be reviewed by the council and City Attorney Todd Wetzel, with a report being given at the next meeting.
The next Princeton City Council meeting will be held Monday, October 2, at 5:00 p.m. at the Tourist Welcome Center at 206 East Market Street.
