Caldwell County Animal Shelter Announces Pet of the Week


Earlier this week, the Pet of the Week was announced by the Caldwell County Animal Shelter on WPKY.
Duke, a long-time resident at the local animal shelter, was introduced by Director Jamie Whalen and Jess Smith.


click to download audioDuke, who is accustomed to an outdoor kennel, has the ability to alert you when he needs to go outside, and he does know a few commands.


click to download audioDuke has already been neutered, received his necessary shots, and can be microchipped for an additional $20.
At present, the shelter is facing overcrowding issues with a variety of dogs. Additionally, Whalen mentioned that they will soon have several puppies available for adoption.


click to download audioDuring the conversation, Smith and Whalen also discussed the measures pet owners can take to prepare for cold temperatures, along with highlighting the steps the shelter is taking to ensure readiness for the upcoming winter weather.


click to download audioAs far as current needs at the animal shelter for the upcoming winter months, Smith and Whalen emphasized the need for both dry and wet dog food, which is crucial to assist in maintaining the animals’ stored fat and overall well-being.


click to download audioIn addition, Smith mentioned that there is a constant need for chicken and rice dog food at the shelter. She also noted they are currently low on bleach supplies.
