In preparation for the installation of a new computer auto-renewal system statewide, the Caldwell County Clerk’s Office, along with other county clerks’ offices across Kentucky, will temporarily suspend vehicle registrations starting at the end of December.
Due to the state’s transition to a new system, Caldwell County Clerk Jennifer Watson-Hale announced at the fiscal court meeting on Tuesday that her office will be unable to process vehicle registrations after December 29th through mid-January.

Additionally, she is optimistic that starting on January 12th the county clerk’s office will be able to start the task of inputting the accumulated backlog of paperwork, including documents from auto dealerships, into the new system.
If you are due to renew your vehicle registration in December, Hale emphasized you don’t need to wait until January 16th, because you will be charged a penalty and accrued interest.
