The Caldwell County Fiscal Court approved multiple bids for repairs of the courthouse and annex during Tuesday morning’s meeting and approved the hiring of an Animal Control Officer.
Judge-Executive Kota Young proposed the acceptance of a bid from Tremco Incorporated during the meeting, for a total of $23,754 for the repair of the courthouse roof coping.

In other new business, magistrates unanimously approved an updated memorandum of agreement with the Administrative Office of the Courts to address the prevalent mold issues at the courthouse annex, along with implementing various other improvements.

In other action, magistrates approved the 2024 Kentucky Waste Tire Management Program agreement. Judge Young announced that this year is a significant tire recycling event, where the county collaborates with the state to accept and dispose of various tires. He noted the event is scheduled to take place in April.
click to download audioFurthermore, magistrates gave their approval for the hiring of Kevin Lane as the new Animal Control Officer for the county.
Lane was selected from a pool of four applicants and will be compensated at a rate of $15 per hour. This decision was made following the passing of Tom Ward last month, who had served in the position for several years.
Additionally, Judge Young shared that the county has been granted a $215,500 grant from the Department of Homeland Security to hire an IT professional to enhance the county’s technological capabilities.
