During the fiscal court meeting on Friday morning, Animal Control Officer Kevin Lane acknowledged an employee at the Caldwell County Animal Shelter for her efforts to rescue a dog.

Lane mentioned to magistrates a social media post made on the shelter’s page this week regarding the dog, now known as Job, whose owner had recently passed away. He explained that despite their efforts to catch the dog for over a week, Job was grieving so deeply that he refused to let anyone approach him.

He then presented Miranda Johntry with an Above and Beyond Award for her dedication.

District 4 Magistrate Jeff Simms commended Johntry who faces many challenges every day at the shelter.

Judge-Executive Kota Young also expressed gratitude to Johntry for her devotion to “our four-legged friends” and for the valuable contributions she makes at the animal shelter.

Lane also mentioned that Job will be available for adoption on Monday, and emphasized that the process will be lengthy. He stated that they will not adopt him out after just one visit; the potential adopter will need to make multiple visits to allow Job to become familiar and comfortable with them. Lane also noted that the final decision regarding Job’s adoption will be made by the animal shelter.
