A man from Marion was taken into custody on several charges following a pursuit that started in Caldwell County Wednesday night.
The Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office reports that John Lutz was taken into custody shortly after 9:45 Wednesday night and charged with wanton endangerment of a police officer, assault of a police officer, fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle and on foot, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, public intoxication of a controlled substance and some traffic-related offenses.
According to the sheriff’s office, Lutz fled from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office into Crittenden County and failed to yield to law enforcement, striking a sheriff’s department cruiser with the car he was driving. Lutz reportedly exited the road around Highway 641 and the Highway 91 intersection, becoming stuck in a ditch. Lutz then ran and was apprehended.
