A former correctional officer at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville has been sentenced in federal court for rape after she engaged in sexual conduct with an inmate.

Attorney General Russell Coleman announced Tuesday that 39-year old Trista Fox of Fredonia was sentenced to one year in prison, probated for three years. As conditions of the plea, he says she will be a 20-year sex offender registrant under the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry, which includes five years of post-incarceration supervision by the Department of Corrections. In addition, she will be barred from future employment in law enforcement.

Fox was indicted by a Lyon County Grand Jury in December 2022. On February 5, 2024, she pled guilty to one count of third-degree rape, a Class D Felony.

The case was investigated by Kentucky State Police and prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Barbara Whaley on behalf of the Commonwealth.
