Phillip Hunt, 73, of Earlington

Philip Ray Hunt, 73, of Earlington, KY passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at his home.

He was born in Madisonville, KY on May 17, 1950 to the late Ernest and Novella Hunt.

Mr. Hunt was a member of Princeton General Baptist Church. He was a retired carpenter, was a member of Earlington Civic Club, had served on the Earlington City Council, and was a former mayor of Earlington, KY. Mr. Hunt enjoyed fly fishing, woodworking, and gardening. Family was most important to him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Hylan Gray.

Mr. Hunt is survived by his wife of fifty years, Sherry L. Hunt, of Earlington, KY; his two children, Casey Mattingly and her husband, Matthew, of Guston, KY and Aaron Hunt and his wife, Katie, of Shelbyville, KY; three sisters, Verna Ortt of Princeton, KY, Josephine Helms of Stewartsville, OH, Katherine Barnett of Lebanon, KY ; four brothers, Ed Hunt of Princeton, KY, Leon Hunt of Spring Hill, TN, Joel Hunt of Madisonville, KY, and Eldon Hunt of Taylors, SC; four grandchildren, Lily Mattingly, Jesse Mattingly, Sydney Hunt, and Liam Hunt; mother-in- law, Mildred Gray of Kuttawa, KY, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitations will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Reid-Walters Funeral Home in Earlington, KY and on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton, KY.

A private burial will take place at Macedonia Cemetery in Kuttawa, KY.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
