Caldwell County FFA Chapter Hosts Annual Awards Banquet (w/PHOTOS)

The annual Awards Banquet for the Caldwell County FFA Chapter was held Friday night.

The banquet began with students, parents, and community members gathering in the high school cafeteria for a meal prepared by Princeton Food Giant. The invocation was given by Abbey Gill and then FFA members lined up behind 2 serving lines to fill the guest’s plates with fried chicken and all the sides. Following the meal everyone was dismissed to the Fine Arts Building for the awards. A slide show was presented featuring activities from the past year plus recognition of senior FFA members.

The awards program began with the official opening FFA ceremonies which included the long-standing response from FFA members when asked by the President, why are we here?

click to download audioThe executive team and special guest were introduced followed by greetings from Principal Daniel Kukahiko, Murray State University, Kentucky State Reporter Laken White and the FFA Alumni.

Honorary Chapter FFA membership was given to Jeff Harper, Josh Bell and Laken White. Harper and Bell are members of the school maintenance department who have assisted with the greenhouse project and White was inducted as a State FFA Officer.

Scholarship and leadership awards were presented and members were introduced who will be obtaining their State FFA Degrees. The Star Greenhand was given to Lucas Harper for outstanding leadership and accomplishments as a Greenhand member. The Chapter Star Award in Placement was given to Taylor Wynn and the Chapter Star Award in Production was given to Issac Lane. Lane went on to be named Regional Star Farmer in Production for the Pennyrile Region. The newly elected officers and committee chairman were introduced and installed. After remarks by chapter advisors, the meeting was closed with official FFA closing ceremonies.

FFA Advisor Parker Jennings shared after the program that the banquet was a time to showcase the students.
