Officials with the City of Kuttawa have announced that the Kuttawa Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a $2,000,000 grant to support the renovation and enhancement of the Kuttawa Fire Station.

Officials indicate that is a one-time benefit that is critical in revitalizing the deteriorating fire department.

City officials hailed the grant as a major victory for the City of Kuttawa, attributing the success to the dedicated efforts of Mayor Barbara Campbell, Councilwoman Sandy Stark, Councilwoman Skyla Grief, and City Clerk Savannah McLeod. Over the course of four years, officials said this team tirelessly advocated in Frankfort, engaging with legislators and making multiple trips to secure the necessary resources for the fire station’s improvement. Despite facing rejection twice, officials emphasized the team’s unwavering persistence and determination in obtaining the funding.

Mayor Campbell and the City of Kuttawa extended their thanks to State Representative Chris Freeland for facilitating networking opportunities for the city. They also expressed appreciation to State Representative Steven Rudy, House Majority Floor Leader for the General Assembly, for meeting with Mayor Campbell and Councilwoman Stark, and listening to the fire department’s needs, and approving the funding for the station’s renovation.

Officials with the City of Kuttawa said they are thrilled to see this project come to fruition as the task is coordinated with Craig Thomas at RBS Engineering.
