A teenager was charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer after he was detained by law enforcement in Lyon County last week.

According to Sheriff Brent White, he and Captain Dennis Beckett responded to Knob Street in Eddyville around 10:15 Wednesday morning to take a juvenile into custody on a pick-up order from Lyon District Court. Once at the residence, he said a 14-year old boy saw the officers and quickly went around the rear of the home. Sheriff White ran after the teen and detained him. He reportedly determined the 14-year old was intoxicated from alcoholic beverages and marijuana.

While being taken into custody, Sheriff White said the teen resisted arrest and kicked officers and continued to resist arrest once he was placed in the rear of the police cruiser.

The 14-year old boy was charged with resisting arrest, third-degree assault, possession of marijuana, and criminal trespassing.

Sheriff White said a 16-year old girl, who was the subject of the court’s pick-up order, was taken into custody at the same residence without incident and later transferred to a court-approved facility in Bowling Green.
