Caldwell Ag Agent Highlights Hay’s Versatility And Preservation Techniques

Caldwell County Agriculture Agent Shane Bogle recently highlighted the versatility of hay as a stored forage, noting that it can be preserved for extended periods with minimal nutrient loss if shielded from the elements.

He also pointed out that a wide variety of crops can be effectively utilized for hay production, allowing for both small-scale and large-scale feeding.

click to download audioAccording to Bogle, the number of hay stalks on most Kentucky farms entering the hay-making season has been lower this year and last year compared to previous years. However, he said improving weather conditions are aiding in hay production.
