Joe Bergeson, 48, of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, formerly of Princeton, Kentucky, passed away on April 4, 2025, at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, leaving behind memories, stories, and a quiet legacy of a life lived on his own terms.
Though it’s been many years since he walked closely with us, his family, the bond of love never faded. Joe was many things in this life a son, a brother, an uncle, a grandson, and a friend. Each of those roles held meaning, even across distance, and each is part of the story he leaves behind.
Joe carved out a life that reflected who he was-independent, creative, and true to himself. He found joy in the little things: the perfect moment caught through his camera lens, the aroma of something good simmering on the stove, and the rhythm of music that always seemed to be playing somewhere in the background of his life.
Colorado became his home, and there, he was embraced by a chosen family. His dearest friend Susanne, her husband Izaak, and their daughter Nola-who held a special place in Joe’s heart-were a constant in his life. With them, he found connection, comfort, and love. His bond with Nola was especially meaningful; and their relationship brought him deep joy.
While the distance between us remained, the love never left. Joe’s path was his own, and we honor the way he walked it-with quiet strength, passion, and authenticity.
He will be missed by those who knew his heart and remembered always by those who carry him within in theirs.
Joe is survived by his mother, Irene Maria Haile (Richard Hopper) of Princeton, KY; father, Jim Bergeson (Dewey) of Oklahoma; brother, Jeffrey Bergeson (Jennifer) of Whiting, IN; nieces and nephews, Eric, Austin (Erin), Paige and Caden.
