At this week’s Caldwell County Board of Education meeting, several key decisions were made, including the approval of an agreement to support employment opportunities for high school students.
The Board approved an agreement with Three Corners Employment, which Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Roach explained is intended to benefit high school students.

In other new business, the board approved Dr. Roach’s recommendation to continue to retain the auditor services of Duguid, Gentry Associates, PSC for Fiscal Year 2024-2025, following a quote of $26,400, a $3,500 increase from the previous year. He noted that many school districts are facing challenges in finding auditors due to the limited number of firms specializing in school audits.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Roach announced that they have received a tentative award of $450,000 from the 21st Century Community Learner Grant to provide services for the children.

click to download audioBoard member Kim Cook asked if Dr. Roach had any updates on the Butler Annex building. He said that they expect the abatement and demolition to be completed in three to four weeks. When student board member Harper Ritchey asked about future plans for the space once the building is removed, Dr. Roach explained that the goal is to expand the parking lot on the south side and create an area for activities and gatherings.
