Caldwell Fiscal Court Approves Rural Secondary Road Paving Recommendations

In addition to moving forward on the proposed judicial center on Tuesday, the Caldwell County Fiscal Court also approved the Rural Secondary Road Program recommendations for Fiscal Year 2026.

Charlotte Cotton, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s section engineer for Caldwell and Christian counties, presented the Rural Secondary Program recommendations for Caldwell County, for a total allotment of $754,849.

She pointed out that the elevated paving costs have limited the number of available options compared to previous years, with two recommendations from the state for 2026. She stated that the first road on the list is KY 672.

The second road on the list is KY 1592.

She stated that the combined estimated cost for the two projects is $527,820.

Judge-Executive Kota Young highlighted the significant increase in paving project costs.

According to Cotton, SR 128 was selected as this year’s Flex Fund option, with an allocation exceeding $222,000.

The magistrates unanimously approved Judge Young’s motion to accept the Rural Secondary Road Program recommendations and to allocate the flex funds for the county’s purposes.

In other business, the Fiscal Court approved a resolution to submit a Regional Development Agency Assistance Program (RDAAP) application for Industrial Building 4, as explained by Judge Young.

During the judge-executive’s comments, Young announced that a groundbreaking ceremony for Industrial Building #4 will be held on Friday, May 30, at 11:30 a.m. on the build-ready pad above the Kentucky Soybean Association’s office on Park Avenue.
