Caldwell School Board Honors Student Member, Oks Tentative Budget

In a brief meeting Monday night, the Caldwell County Board of Education approved a tentative budget and salary schedule, while also recognizing student board member Harper Ritchey for her service.

Ritchey, a senior at Caldwell County High School, has served as the student board member since August 2024. Last summer, she was one of four Caldwell County students chosen for the Governor’s Scholar Program. She also holds a leadership role in the Caldwell County FFA Chapter and attended FFA Camp in June. In addition to her academic and leadership achievements, Ritchey is a member of the Caldwell County High School Soccer Team.

Board Chair Tim Kennaday explained that the decision to add a student representative to the school board was made a couple of years ago. He praised Ritchey, calling her an outstanding student board member.
