As Memorial Day weekend approaches, communities across the region are preparing to honor the true meaning behind the holiday—a time not just for barbecues and summer fun, but for remembering and paying tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Locally, the Princeton VFW Post 5595 will place flags at Cedar Hill Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, and community members are invited to join in honoring fallen heroes. At 11:00 a.m. on Monday, the VFW will host its annual Memorial Day service on the front steps of the Caldwell County Courthouse to pay tribute to all military personnel.

The Fredonia Valley Heritage Society and Fredonia American Legion Post 103 invite the public to a Memorial Day gathering at the Fredonia Valley Veterans Memorial at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, where all veterans in attendance will be honored. Following the ceremony, a new historical marker—awarded to the Fredonia Valley Heritage Society by the Kentucky Historical Society—will be dedicated at Buddy Rogers Park, with a reception to follow at the American Legion building.
