City Code Enforcement Officer Alan Getz recently updated the City Council on the package store quota increase filed with the state and ongoing code enforcement efforts across the community.
Getz said he is still awaiting word from the state about the rise in package stores, but noted that the city is working on an amendment to introduce a new type of alcohol license.
click to download audioDuring his code enforcement update, Getz said he has met with the property owner on West Green Street about the number of vehicles on the property and noted that the issue should be resolved within a month.
click to download audioHe said the owner of a house at the corner of Varmint Trace and Harvey Lane has authorized the city to demolish the home.
click to download audioGetz mentioned that the homeowner will repay the $3,000 cost over a period of two years.
click to download audioAccording to Getz, the deed for the building at 134 East Main has been completed, and once it is signed by the owner, the city will begin asbestos inspections on that property and the former Community Medical Center, at a cost of over $1,300.
click to download audioGetz added that he is also working to address code issues with properties on East Market Street and North Jefferson Street.
During his update to City Council, he also announced that Jonathan Chewning has joined the Code Enforcement department, with his first day being Monday, May 19.
