Dawson Principal Wins State Award, School Board Celebrates Boys Track Team

At Monday’s Dawson Springs Independent Schools board meeting, it was announced that the retiring high school principal has been chosen to receive a prestigious statewide distinguished service award.

Superintendent Leonard Whalen announced that retiring high school principal, Dr. Todd Marshall, has been chosen by the Blue Ribbon Judging Panel to receive the Kentucky Association of School Administrators’ 2025 Distinguished Service Award.

click to download audioHe also mentioned that at the recent State of Dawson Springs luncheon, they learned about a potential new business for the old spec building, which he noted will be a tremendous opportunity for the community.

click to download audioWhalen said the company’s name and details aren’t ready to be announced, but in a month or two, he plans to take small groups of board members to Tennessee to tour the operation that will be coming to the community.

The board also received an update on the proposed safe room project and held a closed session for the superintendent’s evaluation. I’ll have more details on these topics in the coming days.
