New Art Guild Director Champions Inclusive Vision and Stronger Civic Ties

Joe Duncan, the new executive director of the Princeton Art Guild, recently outlined his vision for the organization’s future to the city council.

He began by acknowledging everyone who has dedicated years of hard work to building the foundation he now stands on.

click to download audioAs Duncan has explored the Art Guild’s history back to its 1978 founding by Betsy Morgan and others, he noted he was struck by their belief that community grows from shared experiences, with creativity at its core.

click to download audioHe added that he has embraced the Idaho Art Lab’s vision, comparing the Art Guild’s approach to the spirit of the children’s story “Stone Soup.”

click to download audioHe also emphasized that their guiding principle is “art is for everyone,” and they are working to make the Art Guild more inclusive.

Duncan explained he wanted to address the city council because the Art Guild’s main goal moving forward is to become more civically engaged and serve as a resource for the community.

click to download audioDuncan said he hopes the City will consider the Art Guild for future partnerships or to help fill any gaps that arise. He also mentioned that he plans to attend City Council meetings more frequently to find new ways to contribute.

He wrapped up by expressing gratitude to the City and County governments for their significant financial and promotional support in the past, and said he looks forward to building on that partnership.
