Princeton Rotary Club Raises Over $25,000 to Provide 60 Beds for Kids

The Princeton Rotary Club is celebrating a major success, announcing the final results of its recent “Swing for Dreams Golf Tournament” fundraiser benefiting the Build-a-Bed program.

Build-a-Bed Chair and Rotarian Janie Tomek told Your News Edge the club was very pleased and grateful to the community and golf tournament sponsors for helping raise more than $25,000—enough to provide 60 local children with a safe, comfortable place to sleep at night.

She shared that the Build-a-Bed program has been running for more than six years and, in that time, has provided nearly 400 beds to children in need.

However, after Covid, rising costs and challenges with delivering wooden beds into homes—especially through narrow hallways—led the group to switch from building beds to purchasing them instead.

This year’s event featured a new highlight—a golf ball drop—with 200 numbered balls sold at $20 each. The balls were dropped onto Hole 18 from a Princeton Electric Plant Board bucket truck. Although none landed in the hole, Tameka Johnson was declared the winner, with her ball landing closest to the target and earning her $1,260.
