Caldwell County Fiscal Court magistrates set the property tax rates for 2025 and moved forward with ordinances involving a property transfer and a partial road discontinuance.
Magistrates gave unanimous approval to Judge-Executive Kota Young’s recommendation to set the real and personal property tax rate at 10 cents per $100 assessed value, after he noted there is no change from last year’s rate.

In other business, magistrates approved the first reading of an ordinance for the partial discontinuance of Phillips Drive, following a public hearing held prior to the Fiscal Court meeting.
click to download audioAfter the first reading of the ordinance, District 2 Magistrate Jeff Boone noted that the turnaround paperwork still needs to be signed by the current property owner. Judge Young added that this will be completed prior to the ordinance’s second reading, when it becomes official if approved.

Magistrates also gave unanimous approval to a resolution supporting the Statewide Emergency Management Mutual Aid and Assistance Agreement, which was explained by Caldwell Emergency Management Director Joey McCaslin.

In other business, magistrates approved a resolution to accept the title for a recently surplussed property transfer by the Caldwell County Board of Health.
