Rachel Wilson, 70, of Princeton, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Baptist Health Madisonville.
She was born on April 25, 1955 and raised in Caldwell County, Kentucky, by her late parents, Roy “Cotton” Myers and Louise C. McDaniel Skees. Rachel will be fondly remembered for her unwavering commitment to her Pentecostal faith. She was a beloved and active member of the Faith Apostolic Church. Rachel’s love for her faith was demonstrated through her passionate singing in the church choir and playing the organ. She also found joy in taking the church kids to camp, ensuring that each child felt the same warmth and care that she so freely gave.
Her love for her family knew no bounds. Rachel was the cornerstone of her household, creating an environment filled with love and the irresistible smells of her famous cooking. Rachel’s hands were rarely still, as she was a woman of many talents. She could often be found crocheting, sewing, and engaging in a myriad of crafts, creating beautiful, tangible memories that would be treasured by all who received them. Her skill in the kitchen was unrivaled, particularly when it came to her coconut cream pie and the simple yet profoundly delicious tuna sandwiches that graced many gathering tables. One of the fondest memories of her children is her “summer meals” comprised of fresh garden vegetables and fried chicken.
Rachel is survived by three daughters, Dana (Christopher) Lewis, Mandi (Michael) Lewis, Brittany (Chris) Combs, all of Princeton; son, C. Shawn (Mary) Conger of Nashville; two sisters, Lydia Myers of Princeton, Carolyn (George) Strilko of Chicago; three brothers, Timothy (Tina) Myers of Madisonville, Michael Skees of Fredonia, Tommy Myers of Smithland; fourteen grandchildren, Brandon Combs, Emily Combs, Sean Conger, Windy Lewis, Alyssa Shearon, Bailey Lewis, Brandon Cotton, Ethan Cotton, Adrian Hendricks, Kelsey Asher, Jessica Tirey, Preston Conger, Josselyn Conger, Ryon Ward; seventeen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
