The Princeton City Council met in regular session at 5:00 pm on Monday afternoon. Mayor Brock Thomas called the meeting to order with Council member Sheila Gates absent.
The Council heard reports from the various department heads with Public Works Director Chris Pool reporting on current work.
Pool also shared about the upcoming blacktopping of City Streets to begin this week.
Code Enforcement officer Alan Getz reported there has been an increase of reports on indoor furniture sitting on front porches and in yards. This could lead to a clutter offense in order to clean up the issue. He reported that he and Mayor Thomas are looking into the possibility of having a large item and furniture pick up sometime in the future but there has to be several details worked out before that could happen.
Animal control officer Kevin Lane reported that Sunday night a tree fell on the shelter building causing damage. He is grateful to Exterior Outdoors for responding quickly and within an hour had the tree removed. Insurance has been notified and early estimates are up to $20,000 worth of damages were involved.
The Council approved second readings of two separate ordinances with no changes from the original readings. The Special Purpose Vehicles and the MediaCom Franchise Agreement were both approved as presented. Individuals with the Special Purpose Vehicles have to get the vehicles inspected and registered after meeting certain guidelines before they can be allowed to operate on the streets.
