The Black Patch Pageants were held last Saturday and for the second year the Pageants were sponsored by the Caldwell County Middle School Junior Beta Club. This year they were held inside the middle school gym with over 40 candidates competing in 8 divisions.
Jr. Beta Club Advisor Chelsea Audrey was very pleased with the number of contestants and the group of volunteers who helped with the event.
Audrey would like to see more entries in each division next year especially local students.
She noted that holding the Pageants in the local middle school worked out really well and she hopes to continue with that location in the future.
Audrey explained all the proceeds went directly to the Jr Beta Club and how they will be using those funds.
Audrey and the Jr Beta Club have already committed to hosting the Black Patch Pageants again next year. The Princeton Optimist Club invites all entries in the Pageants to participate and be in the Black Patch Parade scheduled to be held on Friday September 5th at 5:00 in downtown Princeton. It is open to every entry in the Pageant if you placed in the contest or not and there is no registration or cost to be in the Parade. The only thing is they ask you identify yourself on your vehicle so everyone will know who you are and WPKY Radio will be broadcasting the Parade live. Line up for the Parade will begin at 4:00 pm on the Butler parking lot.
