Caldwell Fiscal Court Discusses Justice Center Planning

The Caldwell County Fiscal Court met in regular session Tuesday morning at 9:00 am in the small courtroom of the county courthouse.

Judge Dakota Young opened the meeting with the pledge to the American Flag with Magistrate Stallins offering the opening prayer.

The majority of the meeting was regular reading and approval of minutes, ordinances and resolutions plus approving transfers and bills. Those included amending the budget to include around $290.000.00 in grants, second reading to remove a portion of Phillips Drive from the county road system and approving the tax rate set by the Library Board.

County Judge Young invited the public to attend the first meeting of the board to set up the new Judicial Center for Caldwell County to be held next week.

Young also reminded the public about a possible project that the court was working on that would have the price tag of over 5 million dollars but if the funding they have applied for is approved would not cost the county any tax dollars.

He noted the county has applied for funds from both the State and Federal Government.

The Fiscal Court acknowledged the State project and are waiting for the process to continue hoping for the very best results for their efforts.

Magistrate Simms and the court reminded the public that the renovations around the courthouse with the added grass is still very new and fresh and that during the upcoming Black Patch activities to please be aware and avoid walking or placing anytime in that area. Plans are to mark off that area and the portable restrooms will be moved to the old shell parking lot across the street.
