Alma Pickering, 86, of Princeton

Alma Deane Pickering, age 86, of Princeton, Kentucky, passed away on August 30, 202,5 at her home. She was born on December 13, 1938 to her late parents George and Willie Deane Stevens.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Rayborne Pickering and her parents. Her first cousin, Phyllis Robertson, who was only 5 months her elder and with whom she spent her childhood reigning as co-queens of North Jefferson and Hogan’s Hill, preceded her passing by four days.

She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church and a retired teacher. She liked to walk, with her favorite walking spot being her family farm. She loved sunsets and flowers. She enjoyed tennis, golf, playing and winning any game (especially cards). She had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Her greatest love was her family. She had a particular affinity for her grandchildren. She was little sister to Dylan’s “Mark,” Gram’s “escape partner,” and Maggie’s “mooner.”

She is survived by her three children, George Pickering (Rhonda), Debbie Pickering, and Jana Pickering (Phillip); two brothers Roy Stevens (Janice) and Irl Stevens (Lucy); five grandchildren, Donnie Lewis, Johnathon Lewis, Dylan McGowan (Ashley), Gram Durbin, and Maggie Durbin; two sister in-laws, Ramona McConnell and Tammie Sanders (Gordon); and many other loving family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.at Lebanon Baptist Church, Princeton, KY on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, with Brother Roger Mitchell and Brother Mike Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Lebanon Cemetery.
