Princeton City Council will soon discuss legalizing Sunday alcohol sales after a request from a local businessman at Tuesday night’s meeting.
General Manager Tyler Lear of Adams Breezy Hill Farm Restaurant expressed his gratitude to the Council for the recent annexation into the city. He shared his excitement about being a part of the Princeton community and said they plan to give back by creating jobs, increasing tourism, and continuing events such as their free Thanksgiving dinner again this year.
Lear then suggested the city look at legalizing Sunday alcohol sales in Princeton, explaining that this move could open up new revenue opportunities for local businesses and benefit the community by increasing tourism, supporting local events, and creating more jobs.
He said their vision is to help make Princeton a true tourism destination similar to Franklin, Tennessee, or Grand Rivers. Lear pointed out that allowing Sunday alcohol sales would give Princeton a better chance to attract visitors, host larger events, and retain tourism dollars that benefit the community.
When Mayor Brock Thomas asked about the opening date for their wedding venue, Lear said he is hopeful it will be ready by the end of the year.
Councilwoman Pat George inquired about the number of new jobs Lear plans to create.
Mayor Thomas said he would like Alan Getz with ABC to research Sunday alcohol sales and present the findings to the Council, so the community can also provide input.
