Lyon County officials are implementing measures to safeguard local communities and forests as wildfire risks increase.
In response to the extremely dry conditions that have led to a heightened wildfire risk, Judge-Executive Jaime Smith signed an executive order on Friday, effective at 2 p.m., prohibiting all outdoor burning in Lyon County, including the use/discharge of all fireworks, pyrotechnics, explosive targets, and the firing or use of incendiary devices. The burn ban also includes the cities of Eddyville and Kuttawa.
The executive order will remain in place until further notice.
