Oftentimes when Caldwell County students graduate, they scatter across the world. Sometimes, we find our graduates in jobs and positions that place them at the epicenter of huge events. One proud Tiger alum, Mrs Shirley Boren, followed a winding path after graduation that would send her alongside her husband wherever the Air Force directed, eventually leading to D.C., and the Pentagon. During WPKY’s “Coffee Talk with Tess” special remembrance of the 9-11 attacks last week, Boren shared her story of survival. Not only did she remember the 9-11 attacks and where she was, as Alan Jackson puts it, “When the World Stopped Turning”, but she took us inside the Pentagon with her memories of the plane and eventual fireball that would engulf her Public Affairs office. Listen to her visit below.
