Eddyville Set to Celebrate 62nd Annual Founder’s Day

Eddyville will celebrate its 62nd annual Founder’s Day this weekend, featuring a parade, live music, family activities, and much more.

In the days leading up to Founder’s Day, a series of events has taken place, including the 62nd Citizen of the Year Dinner on Monday. During the dinner, Eddyville native and retired State Supreme Court Justice Bill Cunningham was honored as the 2025 Citizen of the Year, while Stanley Walker was selected as grand marshal for this year’s Founder’s Day parade.

Friday’s festivities will kick off with a car show at 4:00 p.m. on West Main Street, followed by a scavenger hunt at 5:00 p.m. Live music will fill the evening, with Tom Peek and Scotty Coney performing from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lyon County Senior Center, and Terry Mike Jeffrey taking the stage from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Lee S. Jones Eddyville City Park.

Saturday’s events begin with a free pancake breakfast from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Eddyville Methodist Church, followed by the 62nd Founder’s Day Parade at 11:00 a.m. Parade participants are asked to arrive at Eddyville Baptist Church by 10:00 a.m. for lineup instructions.

Families can enjoy a variety of activities on Saturday, including a pet show, face painting, inflatables, carriage rides, hourly prizes, and much more. The fun continues with live music from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Lee S. Jones Eddyville City Park, capped off by a fireworks show and a final prize drawing of $1,000 sponsored by Farmers Bank.
