Joycelyn Faye Green Jones, age 95, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at Princeton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Joycelyn was born August 19, 1930, to the late Basil and Gertrude Slater Green. She grew up in Windsor, Illinois, surrounded by a loving extended family and many friends.
She was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She worked at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, upon graduation. She married Thomas W. Jones of Fredonia, Kentucky, in 1953. They established their household in Fredonia upon the birth of their first child, and Joycelyn began her teaching career. She taught 4th grade for one year, then chose to raise her family upon the birth of their child. Later, she became a graduate of Murray State University with degrees in Education and Administration. Joycelyn’s career in education spanned 30 years as a classroom teacher and administrator. She became the first woman principal in Caldwell County and the first principal of the Caldwell County Primary School.
Joycelyn was a long-time member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fredonia. She taught adult Sunday School for many years and was the church librarian. Joycelyn and Tom served on the first Board of Directors for Bright Life Farms. They helped bring the dream to life of building a community for adults with special needs that could live independently. Joycelyn spoke in many churches and organizations to raise funding for the endeavor.
Joycelyn is survived by her children, Trudy (Stan) Bramblett of Princeton, Dena (Paul) Duncan of Reidland, Todd Jones of Fredonia and Megan (Jay) McCoy of Maryland; grandchildren, Ryan (Karen) Boisture, Erin (Johnson) Dorroh, Frank (Emma) Plew, Sean (Ruby) Plew, Austin Rushing, Luther (Lena) Bramblett, Jason (Dawn) Bramblett, Nathaniel Duncan, Trent (Jessica) Duncan, Brandi (Tim) Binkley, and Lauren (Chris) Borodenko. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Joycelyn was the beloved wife of the late Thomas W. Jones for over 50 years. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dee Aldridge, and her brother, Harry A. Green.
Funeral services will be held on 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton, KY, with Rev. Trent Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Fredonia Cemetery in Caldwell County.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Morgan’s Funeral Home.
