The Kentucky Association of FFA was recently awarded a multi-million-dollar grant that will benefit every local FFA Chapter across the state for many years in the future.
The presentation was made during the Kentucky State Fair on behalf of the Bill Gatton Foundation. Mr Gatton was a successful businessman with a history in FFA and was elected as the Kentucky State President in 1950. He grew up in the small town of Sacramento, located in McLean County.
Former Caldwell County resident Benji Kilgore is now the agriculture teacher and FFA advisor in McLean County and was invited to the presentation in recognition of Mr Gatton’s home FFA Chapter. Kilgore shared about the grant to the Kentucky State FFA Association.
Kilgore explained his donation fulfilled part of the FFA motto.
Kilgore noted the impressive amount Gatton was able to invest in the FFA.
Part of the proceeds will go to benefit the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center and the Washington Leadership Conference to train FFA members for many years to come.
Kilgore added that Mr Gatton also provided for his two home FFA Chapters to receive an annual benefit allotment to assist the chapters with their individual programs.
This program is being handled by the Kentucky FFA Association Foundation.
