Bonnie Lee, 85, of Kuttawa

Bonnie King Lee, 85, of Kuttawa, passed away Friday, September 26, 2025 at her home. She was born on June 4, 1940, in Kuttawa, Kentucky, to her late parents, Henry and Margie Marshall King.

Bonnie was a devoted member of Chestnut Oak Church in Kuttawa and an active part of the Lyon County Retired Teachers organization. Her lifelong passion for education began in a humble two-room schoolhouse in Lamasco, followed by time teaching in a one-room school at Hebron. She later joined the Lyon County School System, where she taught 2nd, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, before finding her true calling as a first-grade teacher; a role she held for the majority of her career. Bonnie earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in elementary education from Murray State University, a testament to her dedication to learning and teaching. She touched countless young lives with her patience, wisdom, and nurturing spirit.

More than anything, Bonnie cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and joyful great-grandmother. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the sweet aroma of her legendary peanut butter squares, treasured by all who had the pleasure of tasting them. Even in retirement, she remained a teacher at heart, guiding her grandchildren through their earliest learning experiences and instilling in them a love of books through visits to story hour at the library. Her gentle presence, unwavering support, and deep love for her family will be remembered and missed beyond measure.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 66 years, Keith Lee; daughter, Karen (Anthony) Wilson of Kuttawa; son, Bruce (Angie) Lee of Kuttawa; four grandchildren, Victoria (Keaton) Shewcraft of Marion, Austin Lee of Atlanta, GA, Tyler (Rachel) Wilson of Kuttawa, Trent Wilson of Kuttawa; three great-grandchildren, Lynlee and Lawson Shewcraft, and Grant Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Juanita Lynch, Dottie Ramey; and brother, Cleston “Johnny” King.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2025, at Lakeland Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Kuttawa Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2025 at Lakeland Funeral Home.
