A teenager was charged early Monday morning after authorities investigated new threats made toward the Lyon County High School, separate from last Friday’s incident.

Lyon County Sheriff Brent White says that following an investigation involving a deputy, the school resource officer, and school administrators, authorities determined a 15-year-old boy made both an alarming and a threatening statement to students during Friday’s lockdown. He says other students who overheard the threats informed their families Sunday evening, leading to calls to school administrators and the Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff White says the teen was taken to the McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center after he was charged early Monday morning with second-degree terroristic threatening.

Sheriff White says it’s unknown at this time if this incident is connected to the threat received on Friday, but notes that state police and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate.
