12-20-23-arrest-1

A Dawson Springs man is facing multiple charges following a domestic violence incident on Monday afternoon.

According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a domestic violence call in the 1100 block of Racetrack Road shortly after 12:15 p.m., where they learned that 53-year-old Ray Shearon had assaulted his wife.

Deputies said Shearon’s wife was taken by ambulance to a hospital with minor injuries, where she told authorities her husband had pushed her down and strangled her until she lost consciousness. They noted that a witness informed them that Shearon had firearms inside the home.

Deputies said Shearon was uncooperative and had threatened self-harm, and came out of the home with an AR-15 rifle before being safely taken into custody.

Shearon was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, fourth-degree domestic violence assault with minor injury, and first-degree strangulation. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
