In recognition of Public Power Week, October 5-11, the community is invited to join the Princeton Electric Plant Board for a special celebration this Wednesday, featuring free food and fun.

Local utility officials say the celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Plant Board, 304 East Legion Drive, where guests can enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, drinks, and snacks, plus customers can register to enter a drawing to win a free iPad.

The Princeton Electric Plant Board has been serving the community since 1961 and is one of over 2,000 public power utilities across the nation that deliver electricity to 55 million Americans.

As previously reported, the Princeton Electric Plant Board was recently awarded a $1.75 million Kentucky Grid Resilience Grant to strengthen its power infrastructure, along with a $1.5 million Delta Regional Authority Grant to provide additional support.

Plant Board officials highlighted a recent study of 14 utilities in western Kentucky, showing that the Princeton Electric Plant Board ranks sixth lowest in total monthly cost for 1,000 kilowatt-hour usage, including base charges for residential service. They said this reflects their ongoing commitment to keeping electricity affordable, reliable, and focused on the needs of the community.
